Tilted Cervix

  • Tilted Cervix (written by Yvonne Fulbright, MS.Ed)

  • Inverted Cervix   (written by Yvonne K. Fulbright, MS.Ed.)

HTHGS: Tilted Cervix (written by Yvonne Fulbright, MS.Ed)

Ask Yvonne,
I went to the gynecologist the other day & was told that I have a tilted cervix. What does this mean? Tilted Cervix

Dear Tilted Cervix,
A tilted cervix means just that – your cervix, the opening to the uterus, is tilted.  This could be due to your anatomy just being that way, or could be due to adhesions that cause it to tilt, from something like surgery, endometriosis, etc… If your gynecologist has not looked into these reasons for your cervix being tilted, then he/she should do so.  Furthermore, be aware that having a tilted cervix usually makes it more difficult to get pregnant.

HTHGS: INVERTED CERVIX   (written by Yvonne K. Fulbright, MS.Ed.)

Ask Yvonne,
I recently read a sex question about a tilted cervix. You had stated that it could make getting pregnant more difficult. About one year ago my doctor had told me that I had an inverted cervix and that they used to think it caused difficulty with getting pregnant but that was just an old wives tale and it has been proven wrong since then. The only difficulty is finding the opening for examinations. In fact he told me that it would have no effective physically whatsoever on me when I decided to become pregnant. Is an inverted cervix and a tilted cervix close to the same thing and if so who is right?? Does your cervix have an effect on the easy of getting pregnant??
Thanks, Blondie

Dear Blondie,
Having an inverted cervix and a tilted cervix are two different conditions. There are no studies that I’m aware of, on a tilted cervix and fertility, so your physician is probably right. A cervix, however, and different sexual positions can have an effect on a woman’s ability to conceive. Yvonne Fulbright, MS. Ed.)

Our Philosophy sex is like dancing, it changes every time. It depends on culture, atmosphere and mood. Sometimes it is done alone, with a partner or in a group. It can be fast and hard or slow and soft. Sex is a combination of non-verbal negotiation and verbal cues: a scream, a twitch of the toes, or a flush of the face. There is no one 'right' way to move, only what feels good to all those involved.
